[modeleng] Re: coarse threads

The <http://www.vcalc.net/cu.htm>Curta<http://www.vcalc.net/cu.htm> mechanical 
calculators of the 1950s, an early form of 'pocket' calculator, used a dozen or 
more helical grooved shafts of approximately this pitch to translate the linear 
position of the number setting slides to an angular position for the number 
wheels. Reproducing one of these mechanical wonders would certainly provide an 
absorbing winter project!!!
