There was one in the Chemistry building at Imperial College when I was
there..... it was fun to go over the top and whilst out of view of
people on the top floor (ie below you) to do a handstand ...... they'd
think the lisft flipped over at the top :-))

Paternosters are not made any more and I believe they are illegal for
public 
use in the UK, although they might be accepted in other countries.
Those 
that are still around are mainly in universities, and I see that at
least 
three list members have experience of them!
