[modeleng] Re: are ye all trying to tell me something...

Tony,

You can't use an oildrum! Not if it's a normal sized dog anyway.

The circumference of the oildrum is getting on for 6 feet, so the mower will
be pulled in by that much on each revolution.

With a bit of overlap to make sure nothing gets missed, that's one big
mower.

How big are the dogs in your part of the world?

Re the lawnmower - tie one to a dog so that the dog pulls it, tie the dog to
a long piece of rope, tie the rope to such as an oil drum placed in the
middle of the grass to be cut. This is the clever part - tie some fresh
bacon onto a small piece of wood or bamboo cane, tie the other end to the
dog's head so that it can see but not reach the bacon, start the lawnmower
and let the dog start to chase the bacon. As the dog drags the lawnmower,
the rope will wrap itself around the oil drum, thereby shortening itself and
thus reducing the radius of the swathe cut by the lawnmower. The dog will
therefore slowly spiral it's way in to the oil drum. Just remember to give
the bacon to the dog afterwards, so that you use this trick again in the
future, though!

Tony Wells.

PS, this will only work for circular lawns unfortunately ..... <VBG>
