[modeleng] Re: Wheel Sizes

Most narrow gauge (21/24" gauge) tanks that I know of had only 24" drivers.
The shunters that we had here, 3'6" gauge, had 2'6" drivers. Some were as
small in diameter as the narrow gauge tanks, but these were built only for
yard work.
Configurations were 0-4-0, 0-4-2, and 0-6-0. We didn't have many for
shunting. Generally they used loco's that were retired from mainline
service, for being too small for the expanding distances and tonage to move.

Cheers,

Phill.
