Alan and all,
Given that we have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow, and while
I haven't dwelt on this subject I have begun to give it a little thought
and a couple of basic things come to mind. These involve not only planning
for the inevitable but also the possibility that in later years I may
further speciallize or want or be required to "downsize."
The first thing I've done is speak to my only child, now a adult,
about what I have but I've gone only so far as to say that whatever is left
will probably have little value on the local market and that its greatest
value will be in a broader specialized market, some of which may be
overseas, should she need to maximize the return. Beyond that, simply
beware of the vultures.
What I also see I should or may want to do is to begin at some point
to simplify and dispose of stuff is just that, . . . stuff. I expect it
will also become increasingly apparent what I'll continue to have an active
interest in and what I won't, and what I'll complete, and what I won't.
I've already begun to plan this culling process which will in the end
simplify things for everyone.
