[modeleng] Re: What do you make?

Alan

My two interests are locomotives and workshop machinery.

At present I'm still building a 14XX and a Britannia, both Winson design. I
do also make other bits and pieces when time allows.

What I have enjoyed most though is restoring machinery. I have two
Bridgeport mills, vertical and horizontal. Both were ex factory and the
vertical in particular has taken countless hours so far and many more to go,
including changing and adding power feed motors. Very satisfying when it
actually WORKS. I also restored an ex factory Myford Super 7 3 phase
including having to sort out the electrics. What a great machine that is.
The next main item still waiting lots of attention is a Startrite bandsaw
but that still inhabits the back of my garage. All I've done with that so
far is put it on a set of castors so I can roll it around which is very
useful as there's not enough room to keep it permanently in my workshop.

Funnily enough my wife and children do not think time spent in the workshop
is particularly productive!
