I reckon that the main objective to this, or any, hobby is to enjoy
yourself.
If you make a 4 cylinder Stirling engine and it doesn't work, provided you
have the pleasure of trying it, it really isn't important.

Having said that, I can see no reason why it wouldn't work. I am sure I have
seen reference to multi-cylinder Stirlings (or one of the heat engines) in
ME or EIM some time ago..
