Thanks Cliff, loosening the eccentrics is a non starter as due to all 
problems associated with a grub screw holding parts that have moving links etc 
attatched, my eccentrics are loctited and screwed to the axle.  When you say 
the 
piston goes past TDC or BDC do you mean at the end of each stroke when the 
piston 
is just returning on its travel or the crank pin is TDC and BDC?
