'Twould be nice to see what this "unusual" valve gear looked like.  I stuck 
the photo onto "The Steaming Bay" and Bill Shields claimed it was probably 
the worlds first and only water cooled valve motion since it seemed to be 
inside the water tank.

I looked in Lowe's, British Steam Locomotives, and all it says is that
 Hawthorn built "several" tram engines around that era.

 However, in talking about some earlier engines, it states that they used
 THEIR OWN "unusual" valve gear.
