Whilst decorating the living room, had freeview digital channel 12 on in
the background - as of late about 60% of the programs on it have been Fred
Dibner ones. Whilst doing the architrave round the door, they had him
visiting Israel Newtons boiler works.
They were looking over a boiler, looked to be pretty large (ie full size
or narrow gauge) and were pointing out where fractured Monel stays had
been replaced in the part with copper ones of the "next size up" -
possibly Monel is one of those ideas that sounds good in theory (strong
and doesn't rust) but not in practice (strong bordering on brittle, so it
fractures).
Yours,
Rich.
PS. OT, only relevant to UK...
For 20 pounds from Tesco's I reckon the freeview box is worth it's
money, but I don't reckon there's that much worth watching on the
extra channels. Note the possible need for a replacement ariel (sp?) which
may cost as much again, and it's got to be fitted. I do get perfect
reception on the 5 normal channels though, which is the main bonus.
