[modeleng] Re: Train wreck

Hi Alan

Oddly enough, I went on a train journey recently which required me to change
trains at Harrow & Wealdstone. Whilst waiting for my connecting train I
strolled to the North end of the platform, mainly because I like looking
around railway stations. My attention was drawn to some deep gouging in the
brickwork of the opposite platform face, and I wondered what on earth could
have caused it. The penny then dropped, I was standing at the very site of
the Harrow disaster of 1952. Looking around further, I could see that the
centre section of the footbridge was of welded construction whereas the rest
was riveted, showing that it had been replaced after that awful smash. The
scars of the tragedy are still there.

Regards
Ron
