[modeleng] Re: The demise of Modelworks?

I suspect that Steam Fittings will continue. (I believe it was part owned by
Modelworks, and part by... the guys name escapes me right now.)
Also, if what I have heard is correct, that the traction engine building may
also continue, under different ownership.
Obviously it is early days, so much may happen over the next few weeks.

I am trying to keep abreast of developments, as a friend may be interested
in buying part or all of the business.
That obviously depends upon what their books reveal, but it does mean that
they might continue, in some form or other.

The people I feel sorry for are the customers, who, unless they are lucky,
may well lose out.
As some could be the same people who lost money from Winsons, I suspect they
will take up fishing.

Hi All,

That a pity as I have been using Model works under the title of Steam
Fittings for the supply of bits such as Lubricators, Nuts and Cones.
Their Drain Cocks are super.

Because they actually manufactured them they were far cheaper than the
normal suppliers.

The strange thing is I had a chat with one of the owners at Harrogate as I
wanted to know why they did not advertise the Steam Fittings side of the
business more. Perhaps this is why.

Clif
