Hi All,
I have always had the same problem getting S/S balls to seat, I even made a
tool to linish the seatings.
For some time now I have made my Hand Pumps with clacks that use O rings.
They are simply Mushroom shaped with an O ring under them which sit onto a
seating. The trick is to get sufficient clearance up the stem of the
Mushroom and sufficient clearance around the head whilst controlling the
lift.
I did experiment with balls on O-Ring seats but found that the ring had a
nasty habit of flipping up as the O Rings cannot be retained. The trouble is
on the sizes of ball used, that it is not possible to form a retention
flange to hold the O ring down and keep sufficient gap around the ball for
adequate water flow.
Regards
Clif
