Hi Jesse,
I've spent hours messing about with stainless steel balls clacks. I've
tapped them, I've hit them, I've squeezed them and I've burnished them. I've
used various arrangements of brass rod to ensure absence of side thrust etc.
etc. Despite all of this I cannot get a stainless ball to seat reliably.
Nitrile are much better but not perfect.
I have on my "To Do" list a design of clack that uses an O
ring............watch this space.
