[modeleng] Tap Geometry

Hi All,

    I have just been tapping a number of holes and whilst going through 
the mechanical actions of half a turn forwards and quarter of a turn 
backwards my mind wandered off - as it does!

    The taps I was using were a set of three,  bought as a set (taper,  
second & plug).   Two of the taps had four flutes and the other had three.

    What are the various advantages of each number of flutes?
