Tim,
Is the filter internal threaded or external. If it screws into the main
lens housing you might be able to make a home made expanding thingie that
will engage the internal ledge and allow you to screw it out. If it is
external you can get hold of the rim with a vise grip type tool, maybe you
can screw it out that way. The possibility exists of using a Dremel® tool
with a very small dental burr to cut the filter apart in the damaged area.
(Bye-bye filter in that case, but they are usually cheap or did you mention
Conkin??)The burr can also be used to remove the damaged threads from the
lens so you can still screw filters into the housing by using the other
90% of the threads which aren't damaged.
