Alan,
Check with Valvoline. I can not remember the product name but I used to use
it to prtect items from rust. It is a brown thick liquid which is mixed with
a solvent (Petrol, Kero) and sprayed or brushed on. The solvent dries out
and leaves a heavy film of the coating on the metal. All you have to do when
you are ready to use is wash it down with either petrol or kero and you are
back in business.
