[modeleng] Re: Steam bicycles / motorbikes

ALAN,

A friend of mine, Bob Jorgensen of Memphis has built two steam bicycles from
an article in one of Lindsay's book reprints. I have never seen either of
them except in photographs, but they run on propane. There was a steam
tricycle on ebay a few months ago that burned dried horse muffins and got
about one mile to the pound or so the builder claimed.

Bob does not have an email address but if anyone wants to contact him by
snail mail, I am sure he will be helpful to a potential builder. I have a
photograph of the bicycle as well as of a steam car Bob also built, but of
course, they are not really helpful as they are of the completed project and
not detail items. Bob has been confined to home for some years as his wife
is an invalid and requires his full time there, but he has workshop time
aplenty and I suppose he would be helpful to a potential builder. Very
talented person is Bob and works from old photographs almost entirely.
Bob's various projects are/were shown on www.lindsaybooks.com and one might
find the bicycle there.
