OK gentlemen is time to get serious and I have facing me soon (within days) the
task of making, forming, and applying the smokebox door strap hinges to my 2X
Tich. This will be a first for me. The hinge knuckles don't bother me, the
problem will be forming the straps to go over a curved door, not just curved
but domed door! I plan to make the hinges of SS and they may end up being left
bright, I don't yet know, but in any case I want to finish them as if they were
going to be left bright. This means nice straight sides and crisp edges, you
know, good workmanship, which means that I will not want to buggar up my nicely
turned door using it as a form for beating the hinges to fit. I would
appreciate any experiences or tips anyone who had done this job might have to
help me along. I will probably bolt the straps on from the inside using
unslotted flat head screws filed flush.
Regards,
Harry
