IP,
At the risk of straying into politics on a STRICTLY model engineering
board, I asked myself that question also. Of course here in the U.S.,
where the Gov't doesn't usually concern itself with such things (or at
least it hasn't until now), myself and a few others might naturally wonder
why such a purceived Big Dog as the EU would bother itself with such
piddling concerns as where and by whom British hobby mags are sold.
But back to the topical, I wouldn't trade anything for the education
and enlightenment I've received from ME over the years, but I ened my
susbscription some years back for a couple of reasons, the least of which
was content, although that was certainly a reason. Firstly the price of a
U.S. subscription had risen to a point where it was no longer a minor
expense, balanced against declining content, at least content which kept
the bar raised for me. Then, taken along with older (pre-subscription)
volumes I continued to acquire, along with EIM AND AME, I was beginning to
accumulate a fairly formidable stack of paper which could not simply be
left in piles about the house (even though there was no Missus to nag me
about it). Something had to give, and at about the same time I came to
exactly the same conclusion as Dave, . . . if I never acquired another
magazine I already had enough of everything (including seasoned castings)
to last my lifetime.

Harry
