[modeleng] Re: Shepperton Studios Modelmakers

Hi there John,

When I encountered the Thomas books in the 1980's it was the Fat
Controller then (and Thin Controller on the Narrow gauge railways!).

I also was given some copies from when my uncles were children in the
1960's, and from memory it was Fat Controller then.

Were the recordings you refer to produced by 'Auntie'. In which case maybe
the BBC employees ditched the expression 'Fat Controller' lest they loose
their jobs if it was felt they were having a dig at the bosses upstairs!

Yours,

Rich.
