'morning all,
I recently made up a frame for a fellow ME which actually bolted to the main
body of his station wagon. The frame went around the sides of the back of
the vehicle which then left the spare tye accessable when the loco was not
insitu.
Three lengths of rail were then bolted to the framework. Clamps were then
made to fit to the rails. When the engine was pushed into place the front
buffer ran up a slight incline and was then clamped into place. A second
clamp was then placed in under the cabin frame and it also gently raised the
engine and was finally clamped into place. A similar clamping system was
then used for the tender and riding truck.
The engine had the weight taken off the suspension and was securely locked
into place. If the worst happened, I believe that it would have remained in
the cradle upside down if it needed to.
