[modeleng] Re: Securing models

My Locos are securely fixed in the trailer behind the car. Each is bolted
down to a rigid track on their own side. If carrying only the one loco, that
too is secured in the centre of the trailer, bolted and chained. Ok so the
locos are secured but that doesn't stop some Wassock from running into the
back end and shunting it forward or, some jughead smacking us front on and
the trailer still following on!

Subject: [modeleng] Securing models

I had a call from a friend yesterday.

Apparently he was driving to his club, with loco in the back of his estate
car, when he had a minor accident.
Or rather, it would have been minor apart from the engine.

Being unsecured, some 150lbs of steel and copper kept going when the car
stopped, almost demolishing the passenger seat, (fortunately empty) then
fell over, breaking his wrist, and doing other assorted harm to the car.

Luckily he is not otherwise injured, but the car is worse than from the
actual accident, he has doubts that the insurance will cover that extra
damage, and his loco is "a real mess" (his words).

How does everyone secure their engines in the back of vehicles, or if you
dont, perhaps it might be worth considering.
