Peter,
Hummmm, that is somewhat of a mistake! I was wondering how much of the rod
was going to be left after you cut them 11tpi in it! If it is this large,
do as I said and toss the carbide tool in the dust bin and use a HSS with a
bit of back rake. All should be well then and you can run the die down it
to make sure. Carbide tooling does not go well with model work, trust me on
that one.
