I checked the changewheels and double checked the pitch settings on the
lathe.
I checked the height and form of the tool - I used my carbide tip tool.
I turned the end 1/4" down to 1/2" to give the core diameter and a
bearing fits there anyway.
I turned the thread over an 8" length, increasing the depth by 10 thou
on each pass. I repeated the cut at 120 thou twice.
I don't have a travelling steady for this lathe, so I took small cuts
and took it slowly.
RESULT!
A super thread and the nut screws up and down it beautifully.
Thank you all for your help and support.
Threading doesn't hold quite so many fears now.
Finally, the LM&WR site has been updated with pictures of our latest
arrival - see www.lmandwr.co.uk
Cheers
