Hi All,
A little Whistle story from down here in the South West.
On the St Ives branch line there is a Pedestrian Level Crossing over the
line on a curve and in a cutting for a foot path that goes along the cliffs.
I think since the line was built over a hundred years ago there has been a
Whistle sign for trains approaching this crossing.
A couple of years ago some townies move into a house near the crossing and
promptly started a campaign to make the Trains stop from using their horns
as they reckoned the trains were only doing it to annoy them.
They tried everything to get the train horns stopped but of course lost as
it is a railway regulation.
The net result the trains when they think of it, now give the crossing an
extra toot.
