The web at events agenda on the pages says the following.

The 90inch, Boulton & Watt and Maudslay beam engines will therefore only run
on 11 special weekends throughout 2006, including most of the Bank Holidays.
The focus of these weekends will be on the working life of the Victorian
pumping station with specialised talks, behind the scenes tours of the
original workshops, as well as tower tours. Related activities will help
kids get steamed up as well.

I did the trip with the euro star a few years back for a special event on a
one day return base. A bit tiring but well worth but keep an eye on the
clock Kew is if I remember right about an hour tube from Waterloo so it is
well at the outskirt of London. It was a Saturday and upon asking when there
was a tube back to Waterloo I was told about every seven minutes and at peak
every 4. If I travel the same distance by train from Antwerp there is a
train back . heaven knows when . some service.
