Many uears ago, as an apprentice, I worked with a guy who had been an
industrial chemist in the oil industry before turning ro radio engineering
for a profession. He told me that peentrating oil has a volatile carrier
mixed in with it that 'pulls' oil molecules into the joint because of
differential surface tension. Not sure that I understood it then.....but
the his tip was that if you mix some acetone or similar with ordinary oil,
it will act as a penetrating oil. Apparently you don't need very much - I
seem to remember something like 90% oil, 10% acetone.
