In fact, Jem, the penetrating qualities of WD40 and it's clones is not all
that good. A recent experience trying to pull a mower drive wheel off it's
axle pointed this up to me. After soaking the offending axle from both ends
of the 4" journal overnight, when I did finally get wheel and axle apart I
found the WD40 had penetrated no more than 5/16" each end.

ML10, to protect tooling from rust. The advantage of WD40 in releasing the
taper is, I suppose, its penetrative quality.

gather that they are also useful for edge finding, which I am about to do,
but more of that anon when I have had another go at drilling holes
accurately......
