Thankyou, Ron, Jeff and John.
A Copper hammer I must obtain !
I use either 3-in-1 or the hydraulic oil I use in lieu of "Nutto" on the
ML10, to protect tooling from rust. The advantage of WD40 in releasing the
taper is, I suppose, its penetrative quality.
I too use a brass rod for poking out the Jacobs chuck MT2.
Next time I have to release the milling chuck taper, I shall use WD40 first
and let it penetrate for five minutes before tapping.
The use of cigarette papers to prevent slipping I shall bear in mind. I
gather that they are also useful for edge finding, which I am about to do, but
more of that anon when I have had another go at drilling holes accurately......
