I really ought to defer to the real experts, but, yes,
I have done it a few times an, yes, you can Silver
Braze HSS bits to other type Steel shanks without it
loosing its qualities, as HSS was developed to keep
its properties even if used at Red heat. Since this
is going to be used in Brass, why not use Silver Steel
and re-harden and re-temper after the Brazing job is
done?
