Tim
I sent a copy off your email to a friend who has a pretty extensive library
of UK and Australian railway history this was his initial reply. He tends to
get a bit side tracked.
Hi Lee
Have never heard of this type of loco although I have the two volumes of
"Locomotion" by a bloke called Poulteny. these show you everything you
would wish to know about BR full size stuff, with lots of engineering
drawings inside... Complements a couple of similar books which I have from
Germany - the Leitfaden fuer den Lokomotivendienst (Guide for Locomotive
Service literally, the "guiding thread") and the official DB engine crew
"Lehrbucherei" (literally, the Teaching Bookery!) manuals
I should perhaps bring you the official DB descriptions (Aemtliche
Beschreibungen) of the Lokomotiven Br 44 (2-10-0), Br 41 (2-8-2) and Br 01
Pacific. They have some really good large fold out drawings to feast your
eyes on! Br stands for Baureihe, which literally means construction series,
and this is what we'd call a class.
Speaking with him tonight over a couple of beers he thinks he may have some
relevant information but would like to see the scan of the loco. When you
find time could you please forward it to me at leegrant at mak dot net dot
