[modeleng] Re: Oz

Hi Lee,

Glad to hear you're OK.

The guys rescued from Lake Erie ice were pretty stupid. No one here goes
anywhere near the lakes in thaw conditions as we had last weekend. Anyone
who knows what they're doing waits a good while after -5,-10 C temps have
set in before going on the ice. Even then, before going too far sensible
folks take a couple of test bores with an ice auger to see what the actual
thickness is. With 6" it is safe to walk on, set up fishing huts, and fish.
With 12" or more you can drive your truck out to do it.

Cheers Jeff Dayman
