Alan and all,
SMEE was founded in 1898 by Percival Marshall and a few others. I was once a
member of that esteemed (well, by some anyway) organization but after a few
years we reluctantly parted company over non-payment of dues. I couldn't see
continuing to feed them annual dues for little benefit other than being able to
say I was a member and wear the pin. They did produce quite a nice little
journal, for a club.
Post. I know this is a futile rant, but I've just now priced a book out of the
UK, at a reasonable priced from a commercial bookseller, but the post on the
book will be over 12 Quid! For a smallish quarto book! That just seems
outrageous to me and will prevent a purchase, which was at best a stretch in
this economy anyway.
Grumble, grumble,
Harry
