Alan et al,
Near the end of the war, I remember one of our mechanics magazines stating
that in just a few years most everyone would have a small helicopter in
their back yard to use for commuting purposes! Can't you just imagine skies
full of idiots zipping hither and yon and falling onto people and homes.
Just one of the wild eyed dreams that thankfully never came to pass.
Oh, and not let us forget those combination airplane-autos or auto-boats.
Of course someone still comes up with those ideas every few years and some
work while most crash or sink, but none are ever actually sold to consumers.

Subject: [modeleng] Nostalgia-as it is quiet
I recently aquired some Mechanics magazines from the late 40's-early 50's.
be found for such a vast number of cars is not yet known.
The first experimental nuclear power station to produce electricity was
announced.
This will be so cheap that electricity will be free, consumers just paying
a
nominal charge for the connection.
<OK, I'll have some ! lol>
