Tony,

Apparently there was a chance I was going to be a David, then Dad decided he 
liked the name "Mackinley". Mom objected with "If you think I'm going to 
stand on the doorstep and shout 'Mackinley! Your dinner's ready.', you've 
got another thing coming.". So they opted for John instead, and thus the "P" 
on the end to help prevent confusion.
