Since this list started in mid-July, we have had a regular influx of
members, and with it, more posts.
In fact, several people have joined over the past couple of weeks.
Welcome to all of you.
The object of this list is to discuss model engineering and home workshop
topics.
Discussion on full-size steam and engineering, may also be relevant, and of
interest to many members and is therefore generally acceptable.
Anything else is off-topic and should be kept off the list.
As Garry mentioned, it is useful to members if the Subject line relates to
the content of the message.
If the topic changes, please change the subject line to suit.
Apart from being useful to those who dont wish to follow that particular
topic, it also makes it easier to find messages in the archives.
( I assume everyone knows that all posts are archived at:
http://www.freelists.org/archives/modeleng/ ).
As a courtesy to others and to save space / bandwith, when replying to a
post, please delete the majority, or all, of the preceeding post, perhaps
just leaving sufficient to remind members of the post to which your post
refers.
In fact, if you try to send a post with too much repeated text, it will be
automatically rejected.
If anyone is going away, perhaps on holiday, and their mailbox may get
filled up, please would they set their personal setting to "Vacation" mode.
(Or ask one of the Moderators to do so.)
Otherwise, we get a "bounce" for every message that is sent to them.
Often we get "bounces" for no apparent reason. If there are too many, the
list automatically suspends that person, so if you dont get any message for
a few days, it might be worth checking to see if that has happened.
Finally, the Moderators are Tel ( tel@xxxxxxxxxxx ); Al Messer (
al_messer@xxxxxxxxx ); and me, ( alan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ).
Please address any queries or problems to one of us.
