[modeleng] Re: Lead Screw

John Hi,
You could recut the exsisting lead screw and widen the thread on the screw then
make the new nut with a thicker section of thread, it would be nonstandard but
as you are finding it difficult to get the right acme screw it would be a way
around the problem.
I have done this on a couple of old lathes which had lead screws which were
worn at one part and alright at the area which is little used, makes it
nonstandard but gets the lathe or the mill up and running(anyway the leadscrew
is scrap anyway).
