[modeleng] Re: Lead Screw

I wonder if that size leadscrew was used on other lathes?
My guess is that it might well be.

Of course, finding which one(s) is another problem.

Tony at Lathes.co.uk might know.

Apart from that, making one seems to be the only option.

Allens idea of using a standard gear, (or perhaps using the existing gear?)
and fixing it to the new leadscrew might be the only way.

Subject: [modeleng] Lead Screw

Morning All,

I am trying to source a cross slide lead screw for a Sheraton Conquest
lathe.

It has powered cross feed which means the lead screw has a gear on it which
is integral to the thread. the only way I can see to fix the proplem of
wear is to obtain a length of 11mm diam x 2mm LH pitch screwed ? acme rod
and adapt it to the current lead screw.

Does anyone know of a genuine leadscrew lying around the place or where I
can get a lead screw.

I have Googled and it would appear that the 11 mm x 2 mm is not a std
size.

Cheers,
John
