John Hi
First can I say how much I appreciate your way of doing business?
Loctite 326 really is expensive. I think I paid GBP100 for the last (big)
bottle and some more for the activator which is essential to make it work.
However it really does stick and sticks sheets together which just doesn't
work with 638 and the like.
Harry is right (as often) about the stress involved in differential
temperature. To be honest I don't use it in such applications but where I
would hitherto weld or braze or rivet I think of 326 first. Once properly
costed 326 is often economically the best choice for me.
In the 1970s by the way Model Engineer had a number of articles about boiler
making using Loctite. I always used to check to see if they were published
on 1 April but apparently not. Anyway it is not a technique currently
finding favour!
