Well Peter,
You did alright anyway, or at least a whole lot better than I did the last
time I had my Filer and Stowell logger on the track at Mid-South. Ran most
of one day and then developed a loose flue in the firebox that put me out of
action for the rest of the week. All repaired now and ready for another
run.
I had a float valve leak on my 10hp Kohler lawn mower engine one winter and
when spring rolled around, I pulled the dipstick and found LOTS of oil in
the crankcase! That stuff would have burnt thru the carburetor it had so
much petrol in it. It is good that I checked the oil before starting the
engine eh what? Still, it was better than my friend who developed an
excessive fuel comsumption problem with his 1960 Oldsmobile. He found a
petrol "leak" on his fuel pump and plugged it with a wooden match! He found
he had a lot too much oil too.
