OK, a right miscellany!
Our first event of the season, using our second platform and reversing
headshunt went well. We gave in excess of 880 rides over the two days. I was
beginning to worry on the Saturday as we only had 250 rides and the temperature
never got above 3 degC! Sunday was sunny and warm and we were busy most of the
day. Which leads to ..
My Hunslet threw a crankpin! (early in the day). I haven't got the crank off
yet, but it looks like it might have been welded. What is the groups views on
the best option in replacing it - welding, silver solder or loctite?
Finally, track circuits. In the short term (and for expediency) I am using
IP65 microswitches to act as "replacing track circuits) to return the signals
to danger after the passage of a train. I have a proven design (used on
Luscombe Valley and The Great Bullkington Railway) using a 741 operational
amplifier. I will need a few of these and whilst I can build them on
veroboard, I am considering getting a PCB made. To reduce the price I need
quantity. Are there any other miniature railway owners out there who may be
interested in a few bare pcbs?
There you go, three items, all on topic!
Cheers
Peter
