I like the Juliet "as is" although changing the body makes an interesting 
model.
If you look at:
http://www.stationroadsteam.co.uk/archive.htm
you can find one as a tender engine, saddle tank, and other variations.

I cant remember anything that I thought should be different on the basic 
design, but it is so long since I built one, that it is hard to recall.

I would thnk that a novice should be able to build one in 600 hours, 
including painting etc. and doing everything by hand rather than laser 
cutting or similar.
