     I have engaged in lines-taking exercises on a couple of launch hulls
where only a half-hull model existed, all manually taken, and while there
are a number
marine Cad programs on the market the really usefull ones are (or were)
quite expensive.  Also, as with sophisticated Cad programs, the learning
curve can be quite long.
     I've just now discovered a very simple and straightforward cones
development program on the web which can be downloaded and tried out before
purchase (shareware) and although it will do virtually an unlimited range
of fustrams of cones (cones with their tops lopped off) it will only
develop "right" cones, meaning ones with a single central axis.  The cone I
needed had two non-coaxial (offset) axes.
