[modeleng] Injectors and saddle tanks

I've just bought a very interesting saddle tank loco on eBay.

The description intrigued me so I exchanged various emails with Barney. The
issue is there is no injector feed from the saddle tank into the boiler,
just an axle pump and hand pump. There is an injector with a pipe leading
to the back of the loco. Clearly water was fed either from a supply on the
driving truck/trolley or there was a water tender.

This is very unusual, at least to me. However it answers a point which has
arisen in the past which is water temperature and injectors. We do have
saddle tank locos and side tanks as well where water heats up, particularly
on a hot day. This can be problematical as many injectors are reluctant to
take up when the water is warm, let alone hot.

The present owner had thought of adding a saddle tank injector for
additional safety and I may do the same. However I will certainly keep the
present arrangement and make a "tank" to attach to our trolleys so I can
supply with cold water when necessary.

Anyone else had similar issues with water temperature?
