[modeleng] Ideas wanted

I need to produce several pieces of metal (some aluminium, some steel) that 
are oval in section, roughly 3/8" by 3/16" and from 3" to 8" long.

I have a couple of ideas of ways to do it, but would like to hear other 
peoples suggestions
as I am sure there must be ways other than those I have thought of.
