I drill the hole and then face a flat top on it with an endmill held in the
tailstock. Put the ball in and do as Terry says, bash it by using a brass
rod and small hammer tap. I then use that same ball for the valve and have
no problems with leakage.
I missed the one about the Bloke with the Rolls and the Golf Tees, but I
have heard the one about the guy who went into a small country restaurant
and placed a couple of golf balls on the table while he dug out his money
for the waitress.
