Well Dave,
Methinks that neither you nor Terry have ever come up against the
irresistible/formidable power of a Dodge PU lorry with a Cummins Turbo
diesel under the bonnet.!!
It is interesting to note that in Jolly Olde England there are always many
traction engine models at the shows. Here, they are a pretty rare bird and
the very few I have seen looked like the builder had at one time in the far
distant past accidentally seen a traction engine and decided to build one
from memory. I am referring to those the size and a bit larger than the
Guildford examples. They were pretty well a hodge podge of parts apparently
slung together on a dark night. A bloke did have a half sized home designed
tractor at Mid-South one time. Rather crude looking and he had used a
Soule' Speedi-twin engine for motive power, but it would run well. Also, I
do remember seeing two beautiful Case models in about 1/8th or 1/10 scale at
the Mid-South meet many years ago. Have never seen them before or since
then and don't even know if they would steam well enough to actually operate
since the bloke had them in Plexiglas cases to keep them all clean and new
looking. I believe in running my junque though it gets grungy looking and
rarely cleaned up for a beauty contest.
