[modeleng] Re: GNR/LNER coaching stock

>However, what coaching stock(s) would they have hauled at the different
times in their life?<
Allsorts! On the 2.20pm down Scotsman, the first vehicle is a 12 wheel
clerestory brake third, then a Gresley bow ended, then an 8 wheel
clerestory (O.S. Nock, The Great Northern Railway, p.126)
Another one in LNER days (4431) approaching Stoke Summit. 8 wheel
clerestroy, a Great Central slad sided, two Gresley bow ended, and I can't
make much out after that. ( W.A. Tuplin, Great Northern Steam, p60)

Hitting food again, there were supposed to have been some kitchen diners
made up from a pair of GN 6 wheelers articulated. Of course, the GN were
the first to put a kitchen/restaurant car on.

They would undoubtedly have seen service on Skegness excursions with
standard GN 6 wheel suburban stock, described by Ahrons as having
octagonal wheels. By the end of their lives in LNER days, probably mainly
Gresley bow ended stock, some of it articulated.

>And, does anyone know of any photos of the coaches on the internet,
either
full size or models, for each period?< No, but Gresley bow enders
shouldn't be hard to find.
