I use some steel mesh with about 1/8" diameter holes and have been since
shortly after purchasing my loco, 7+1/4 GWR 1366 Pannier Tank. The mesh
came from a fellow member of SCMES and was I think some that he recovered
from redundant telephone equipment. It fits nicely in smokebox too.
